in face-to-face and online environments.

English 418: Advanced Technical Writing

An upper-division course for undergraduate and graduate students from across the university. Emphasis is placed on advanced approaches to technical communication conventions and design concepts, self-directed analysis of technical writing practices in students’ area of study, and spoken and written delivery of writing to a variety of expert and non-expert audiences. My section emphasizes a rhetorical understanding of information design. (Penn State University)

Liberal Arts 101H: Honors Rhetoric and Civic Life

A four-credit honors course offering comprehensive, rhetorically focused training in oral, written, visual, and digital communication skills necessary for the 21st century. This course asks students to use rhetorical skills and principles to develop strategies for persuasion and advocacy in the context of civic issues. (Penn State University)

English 202C: Technical Writing

A required course created for juniors and seniors majoring in the sciences and engineering. Focuses on conventions of technical writing, application of rhetorical concepts (audience, delivery, etc.), basic design, and problem-solving strategies. Students compose a variety of artifacts including an e-portfolio. Lab sessions enable collaborative problem-solving. (Penn State University)



World Campus (Online) English 15: Rhetoric and Composition

An online composition course for distance learners.  Emphasis on critical reading strategies, writing with sensitivity to audience and purpose, analysis and evaluation skills, and writing public documents. (Penn State University)



English 15 LEAP: Rhetoric and Composition

An intensive summer session of first-year composition for students new to Penn State. My sections were linked with a public speaking course and emphasized the delivery of composition in various media, as well as multimodal design. (Penn State University)



English 15: Rhetoric and Composition

A rhetorically grounded, first-year composition course. Emphasis on rhetorical analysis, application of rhetorical concepts, strategies for research, and approaches to peer review and revision. (Penn State University)



Oral Communication: Principles and Practice

A theory and performance course focusing on concepts of interpersonal and group communication, listening, and public speaking. Students are required to give individual and collaborative speeches. (University of Maryland)
